Season Three! Media and Digital Literacy
Show Notes Transcript

This season we are doing things a little bit differently. We are going to spend this season looking at media and digital literacy and a bunch of political communication theories that are related.

Next week we kick things off with a run down of what exactly media and digital literacy are. Then we will go week by week talking about things like political information repertoires, selective avoidance, political satire, safe spaces and more. Elizabeth will be chatting with journalists, political campaigners, and folks working in non-profits.

Elizabeth: [00:00:03] Welcome to Wonks and War Rooms, where political communication theory meets on the ground strategy. I'm your host, Elizabeth Dubois. I'm an associate professor at the University of Ottawa and my pronouns are she/her. Today, I'm recording from the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin people.

Elizabeth: [00:00:17] This is our season three kickoff! I am so pumped because this season we're doing things a little differently. We're going to spend the season looking at media and digital literacy and a bunch of different political communication theories that are related. As always, I'll be picking a theory each episode and I'll have a chat with a political practitioner about how—or if—that theory makes any sense at all out in the world. So next week, we're kicking things off with a rundown on what exactly media and digital literacy are. Then we'll go week-by-week talking about things like political information repertoires, selective news avoidance, political satire, safe spaces, and so much more. I'll be chatting with journalists, political campaigners, folks working in nonprofits... It's going to be great.

Elizabeth: [00:01:01] As always, each episode drops Wednesday mornings, so you might as well just go ahead and subscribe right now so you don't miss a single one. It's going to be awesome.
